Texas Officials & Organizations Demand Action & Changes to Our Power System

Austin, Texas―Our Revolution, Indivisible Texas Lege, Public Citizen Texas and state leaders will come together to demand action from the Texas Government concerning widespread power and water failures. Texas Legislators call for hearings as Our Revolution launches its “Power to the People!” campaign.

“What happened across Texas last week was completely unacceptable and we must work to ensure that our state is never in this situation again,” said Rep. Goodwin in a statement to Our Revolution. “I will be supporting legislation, as will other Representatives, to make much-needed changes to our power system in Texas.”

The press conference will be held on Wednesday, Feb 24th at 9:30am via Zoom, just 24 hours before the first joint committee hearing regarding the mass blackouts.

Joining Our Revolution during this press conference will be Rep. Jon Rosenthal, Rep. Gina Hinojosa, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Rep. Talarico, former U.S. Senate candidate Cristina Tzintzún, former U.S. House candidate Mike Siegel and several State Representatives will be providing statements.

“This is not any single persons' fault, it was a systemic failure,” said Rep. Gervin-Hawkins in a statement to Our Revolution. “The current system in place is flawed. My colleagues and I in the legislature will work together to resolve this and work on preventing future catastrophes.”

Near the end of the press conference, each organization will make a statement, including Our Revolution’s announcement of its “Power to the People!” campaign, which will aim to reform ERCOT, expand clean and reliable energy, invest in smart grid technology, and more.
